Week #4 (Fixed)
During week four I have gone more in depth with my employee
in-service training and my business plan presentation. I am excited for these events, and hope
people enjoy them! I have been
developing recipes for my business plan; by using the US foods website and
CBORD I was able to create appropriate recipes for Chef Gary to make. This week I have also learned more about the different
roles and job positions within housing and food. Tuesday, I spent the day with Rachel Davis,
Dan Wilkens, and Sean Bacon learning about CBORD, EMC, micros, nextstep,
etc. I found it very interesting seeing what
they do and understanding the technology behind the business systems, food
service databases, reporting modules, and kiosk solutions. It was also a very fun group of people to
work with.
On Thursday, I was able to do
an assessment of Couch with Kevin Barker (Director of Business
Operations). I really enjoyed doing
this inspection and helping to give feedback on what can be improved. Kevin also helped me understand what the
concerns were and what actual health code violations were. Couch had a few things that needed to be
fixed, but for the most part they looked good!
In two weeks I will be continuing work with Kevin to discuss budgeting
and understand how that works within housing and food services. Thursday was also the managers meeting, which
was held in Wagner Dining Hall. After
the meeting, Frank Henry gave some of us a tour of the entire building,
Headington Hall. Every square foot was
beautiful; I really enjoyed the tour and getting to hear about the difference
in the dining halls. I am looking
forward to next week; I will be working with Curtis Gregoire over at
Wagner. This week has really helped me
discover more about housing and food services from a lot of different aspects.
